Lovina · North Bali

Come Back to Yourself

A boutique sanctuary for yoga, wellness and transformative retreats in North Bali.

Lovina, the quiet coast

Where North Bali Slows Down

Alamanda sits on the north side of the island, where the sea is flat at dawn and the hills hold the morning light for longer. Twelve rooms, a garden that keeps growing into the buildings, two pools, and a Shala that fills with sound before breakfast.

There is no programme to keep up with. You practise if you want to practise. You swim, you eat well, you go out on the water at sunrise, you sleep early. People arrive tired and leave sounding different.

The Yoga Shala

Movement. Stillness. Connection.

Open on three sides, timber and thatch overhead, room for 24 mats. The Shala is a building we live around rather than a service we sell.

Classes run Tuesday to Saturday at 08:00 and 17:00. The programme rotates between Hatha, Hatha Flow, Gentle, Yin, Yin-Yang and Sunset Stretch.

The Shala welcomes resort guests, local residents and visitors. Group classes start from IDR 50,000 per person, excluding tax.

Dining

Cooked for the day you are actually having

Breakfast runs late because people practise first. Lunch is light and cold. Dinner is Indonesian, mostly, with the vegetables from the north coast markets and fish landed that morning at Lovina.

Retreat groups eat together at one long table, with menus built with the organiser, plant-based, gluten-free and ayurvedic-leaning menus are all normal here rather than a special request.

We came for four nights and moved everything around so we could stay eleven. The morning practice, then the sea. I have never slept like that.

I brought fourteen students. The Shala, the food and the team made my job almost invisible, I could actually teach.

North Bali is a different island. Quiet roads, dolphins at six, and this garden to come back to.
